Well its been five years since the last album, and this brings up the fourth decade of releases for 'AC DC'. Apart from a slight improvement lyrically, this album offers little more than its predecessor 'Ballbreaker', and again, although a consistent release, lacks the punch and inventiveness of earlier albums.
The title tracks kicks us off, one of the better cuts on the album, with catchy chorus, clever hooks and solid flowing rhythm. 'Meltdown' brings back memories of late 70's 'AC DC' with its raw carefree plod, but all told just sounds too laboured to be compared with early classics. 'House of Jazz' feature some sweet riff work 'Young' style, but the chorus is trite and overall the tasty riff work is wasted. An unwavering chug, carries the enjoyable 'Hold me Back', not too sure about the lyrics, but 'Brian Johnson's' plodding vocals does it for me. 'Safe in New York City' while basic, features a mesmerising grooving rhythm and very catchy chorus- my pick of the disc. 'Can't Stand Still' is another stomping steadfast, that these boys can roll off, with little thought. 'Can't Stop Rock and Roll' has the makings of a top track, but never quite reaches the heights it promises. 'Satellite Blues' sounds reminiscent of 'Love Bomb' from 'Ballbreaker' with heavy chorus and similar intro. The album winds down with three run-of-the-mill 'AC DC' stables 'Damned', 'Come and Get It' and 'All Screwed Up', fortunately the closing 'Give It Up' is an improvement with some tasty riff work and solid rhythm.
'AC DC' die-hards will lap this up, but to be honest there's nothing here that's particularly memorable, but if consistent 'Hard Rock' is you bag, pick up a copy.
