This is the album that really launched Tesla, and its little wonder too, the album is jam packed with outstanding cuts and although not as consistently heavy as the previous 'Mechanical Resonance', the overall sound has developed, the song writing is at its strongest and the production is crisp.
The album opens with a customary rocker, the solid 'Hang Tough', which features some steadfast guitaring and a good catchy chorus. My favourite track is the gem 'Heaven's Trail (No Way Out)', which commences as a subtle number, but builds exquisitely to a great plodding groove, with a sweet sing-a-long chorus. Other top tracks include the 'Rolling Stones' inspired 'Paradise', with its great heavy play out, the party style rocker 'Lady Luck', the sweetly executed 'Did it for the Money' and the flowing 'Makin' Magic'. I challenge anyone to keep their head still while the brilliant 'Yesterdaze Gone' is playing, this baby grooves with vengeance, whip the volume up and air guitar to this classic. 'Flight to Nowhere' is another strong burnout, which develops from an acoustic intro, to a guitar fest interspersed with lighter vocal pieces- Great stuff. As you have probably guessed by other reviews I'm not a great fan of ballads, but 'Love Song' is a really beautiful piece that just oozes emotion, and from 'Frank Hannon's' acoustic guitar opening, you know this going to be a top cut. The steady rocker 'Party's Over' closes the album nicely with 'Jeff Keith' singing with really conviction.
Wow! Nearly 60 minutes of superb Hard Rock / Metal of the finest order, what are you waiting for? even my crappy local music store keeps this baby in stock.
