Kiss's first album without the trademark makeup. This was really a marketing ploy after their excellent previous album failed to make the impact it should have, It paid off and this album went gold.
One of Kiss's heaviest songs starts us of, 'Exciter', which is an excellent flowing track, with nice guitar work from 'Vinnie Vincent' and a pleasant harmony, my favourite of the disc. 'Not for the Innocent' is another strong hard rocking track, with hearty chorus and distinctive groove. Other strong tracks include, the plodding 'Young and Wasted', the light-hearted 'Gimme More' and the well penned, emotional 'A Million to One'. 'All Hell's Breaking Loose' is a head swaying special with an almost rap like approach- nice stuff. 'Fits like a Glove' and 'Dance all over your Face', in my estimation are weak tracks, but the album closes with the strong anthem 'And on the 8th Day'.
On the whole a pretty good album and one of kiss's strongest of the 80's. This was to be the last album to feature Vinnie Vincent, he later went on to form the 'Vinnie Vincent Invasion' and cut a couple of stellar albums- check these out, as the guitar work is smoking.
