Not quite on a par with the splendid debut 'Holy Diver', as the songs are not as cutting and some do start to sound repetitive, but this is still a very consistent release and includes some ripping tracks.
Kicking us off, is the live stalwart 'We Rock', which is a fast paced rocker with a huge chorus and a great opener. My pick of the album, is the brilliant 'The Last in Line' which commences with an almost acoustic intro that suddenly bursts into life, with great guitar work from 'Vivian Campbell' and Dio's amazingly powerful vocals at full stretch. 'I speed at Night' is a superb track and probably one of Dio's quickest, the mid guitar break shreds something special. 'One Night in the City' is a solid plodder, 'Evil Eyes' is a lighter number with sweet guitaring from the 'Irish Axeman'. 'Mystery' is the albums commercial offering, and is less intense than the other tracks but is well executed, however it does have that 'Metal by numbers' feels to it. 'Eat your Heart Out' is aggressive but a bit repetitive, a tasty live version of this was the flip side of the 'Mystery' single. The closing track is a timeless epic which features a glorious chug, top vocal work from the master himself, and is very well written- great stuff.
Its easy to criticise this disc as the previous offering was a real classic, but there are plenty of nice cuts here to keep the interest of fans of early 80's Metal.
