Its easy to be critical of this album, the guitaring is well over the top, the lyrics are occasionally embarrassing and the image of the band is almost laughable, but lets get one thing straight, this album shreds from front to back with no let off. 'Vinnie Vincent's' guitaring was stifled with 'Kiss', but he sure makes up for it here, his guitaring is absolutely stellar, extravagant yes, but so damn catchy. All this is excellently backed up with top notch vocal work from former 'Journey' vocalist 'Robert Fleischman'.

The 'Invasion' of your speakers thunders off with 'Boyz are Gonna Rock' a roller coaster ride of speed driven scale work, supported with big chorus and guitar licks that will make you put your CD player on repeat for this heavenly treat. 'Shoot you Full of Love' is lyrically a bit weak and repetitive, but again the 'shred master' makes this an enjoyable romp, with his flashes of pure genius. The pace is dropped down a gear for the balladsy 'Substitute', here 'Robert Fleischman' excels with his crystal clear melodic vocals, great solos are included but the vocalist steals the show on this number. The tempo picks up again for the grooving simplistic rocker 'Animal', a real good, basic sing-a-long, with customary shredding- check out the wind down- Wow!. Not too keen on the intro for 'Twisted' a lyrical loop speed up, a bit generic of bad 80's 'Electronic groups', but this is soon forgotten when 'Vinnie' opens up full tilt, on this strong, lyric light, rocker. The more commercial sounding 'Do you Want to Make Love' is penned 'Kiss' style, raunchy and simplistic but ultimately memorable. 'Back on the Streets' has to be one of my favourite 'Rock Ballads', the boys really come together on this one, the vocals just oozes emotion, the guitaring is fast but complimentary while the rhythm is solid and grooving- overall a great slower piece. 'I Wanna be your Victim' isn't one of their strongest penned tracks, but full marks for commitment, this delectable plodding rocker with fast riffing solos leaves you out of breath. 'Baby-O' is perhaps the weakest track present, buts its still a fair rock out, lyrically predictable but the axe work helps keeps the interest. The best has been saved the for last though, 'Invasion' is a total shred fest, fast paced with top soaring vocal work and catchy sing-a-long chorus, featuring 'Vinnie' really blazing on the outro, boy this man can play!. The vinyl version features a continuous guitar feedback loop pressed into the end of the track, so will play until the needle is lifted, the CD version contains about 3 minutes of this feedback- nice touch but god its irritating.

This has to be one of my most played CD's, I never grow tried of listening to the soaring vocals and blistering guitar work. No fan of fast technical guitaring should over look this hidden gem.
