A more up-to-date feel with this release, but still continues in a similar vain too what we have become accustom to from 'Yngwie'. A good album but with the usual flaw, average song writing which has previously spoilt some quite excellent tracks, this however is more than made up for, with the usual blistering guitar work.
The album opens up with the excellent instrumental 'Blitzkrieg', which proves that Yngwie is on top form for this album. 'Leonardo' features some monastic chanting which adds a nice touch, but the singing is all done at a helium inhaled level, which I find a bit irritating (respect to Mark Boals though). 'Playing with Fire' and 'Stand (The)' are both chugging numbers featuring excellent riff work, but both come unstuck by their weak repetitive choruses. 'Wield My Sword' is a strong track, with its 'Manowar' style lyrics, all out guitar work and Boals sounding his very best. Other highlights include the hard rocking 'Daemon Dance' and the evil sounding 'Voodoo Nights'. The album closes with my favourite, the instrumental trilogy entitled Asylum, there's a good deal of diversity of guitar work, but most all it shreds plain and simple, great stuff.
All in all a good album, overlooking some of the average song writing and over the top high-pitch singing. 'Yngwie' should also be praised for quantity, there is nearly 70 mins on this album and I do like value for money.
