One of the first 'Progressive Metal' groups, although their beginnings were established playing a fast heavy, almost 'Iron Maiden' style Metal. After two successful albums they released an ambitious concept album, 'Operation Mindcrime' which proved to be a huge success. They followed this with another concept piece 'Empire' which was to be another enormous hit. After a break the group returned in 94' with 'Promised Land' and in 97' with 'Hear in the New Frontier' but this lighter, more progressive sound was greeted with mixed reviews and shortly after, founding member Chris DeGarmo left. Despite this 'Queensrÿche' have continues releasing steadily, their last being a follow-up to their first concept album 'Operation Mindcrime II' in 2006.
