One of the most influential Metal groups that almost single handily forged the 'Speed / Thrash Metal' genre. Further developing the NWOBHM sound, particularly that of 'Diamond Head' 'Metallica' concocted a raw fast uncompromising sound that would influence many proceeding groups. The original lineup consisted of 'Megadeath' guitarist 'David Mustaine', he however was replaced before the first album. There was no shortage of success with 'Kill 'Em All', 'Ride the Lightning' and 'Master of Puppets', regrettably bassist 'Cliff Burton' was tragically killed while on the following tour in Sweden. 'Jason Newsted' was to be 'Burton's' replacement and while fitting in well, 'Metallica' changed their style with the progressive 'Justice for All' and the critically acclaimed 'Black Album'. The following releases were not well received, despite this they are still one of the biggest sellers / tour attractions and one of the most highly respected Metal outfits. 'Jason Newsted' has since left and been replaced by former 'Ozzy Osbourne' bassist 'Robert Trujillo,'.
