Branded as 'the thinking man's Heavy Metal outfit', Blue Öyster Cult were Americas answer to the 'British Invasion' of Hard Rock and Metal bands like 'Deep Purple' and 'Black Sabbath', although their style is not really comparable. Playing their own brand of cleverly written 'Hard Rock / Metal', Blue Öyster Cult racked up an impressive catalogue of albums. Unfortunately they could never keep to a regular line-up, and featured an ever revolving door of band members. Still recording and touring today after a long layoff in the late 80's early 90's.
